]]> http://www.chargerslocker.com/2012/05/03/the-san-diego-chargers-sign-g-rex-hadnot/feed/ 0 The San Diego Chargers picked RB Edwin Baker in the 7th round http://www.chargerslocker.com/2012/05/03/the-san-diego-chargers-picked-rb-edwin-baker-in-the-7th-round/ http://www.chargerslocker.com/2012/05/03/the-san-diego-chargers-picked-rb-edwin-baker-in-the-7th-round/#comments Thu, 03 May 2012 23:22:37 +0000 admin http://www.chargerslocker.com/?p=779 The San Diego Chargers selected RB Edwin Baker out of Michigan State with the 250th overall pick (7th round) of the 2012 NFL Draft.  Baker is 5’9″, 210 pounds and he runs a 4.5 40.  Baker is a power runner and he’s a solid blocker.  He carries the ball like a loaf of bread sometimes as he fumbled the ball 9 times in his time with the Spartans.  He also wasn’t used much in the passing game as a receiver out of the backfield.  Baker played in 14 games (8 starts) for Michigan State last year and he carried the ball 170 times for 665 yards (3.9 ypc) with 5 TD runs.  He also caught 5 passes for 60 yards (12.0 avg) with 1 TD grab last year.  Baker has now played in 35 games (21 starts) in his three years with the Spartans and he carried the ball 462 times for 2,293 yards (5.0 ypc) with 19 TD runs.  He also caught 15 passes for 125 yards (8.3 avg) with 1 TD grab at Michigan State.  This was a solid pick for the Chargers as Baker was projected to go much higher in this draft.
