The San Diego Chargers are the class of the NFC West talent wise.  They were 9-7 last year in what was a HUGE disappointment.  I usually don’t like betting the over with a coach as bad as Norv Turner is, but the Chargers are easily the class in the AFC West.  The schedule isn’t really that difficult overall.  With that in mind, I would bet on the over and pray that Turner doesn’t lose too many games by being outcoached…..because that is going to happen.

The Chargers went 13-3 last season as they dominated the AFC West in 2009.  But they head into this season without Vince Jackson and Marcus McNeil who were two big keys to the offense in 2009.  While the schedule doesn’t look too tough it’s hard to me to make a call on the Chargers either way so I would pass on making a bet on them.  They are one of the favorites to win the Super Bowl at 11-1 but I think that betting on the Chargers to win the Super Bowl as long as Norv Turner is the head coach is throwing your money away.

It’s hard to me to even consider the over here with Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates all banged up.  The Chargers can’t afford to lose any of those three guys if they want to be a playoff team.  That’s not to mention Shawne Merriman trying to play with a very bad wheel.  The Chargers are certainly talented enough to win 11 or more games in 2008 but I’m not betting on it.

With the Chargers returning most of their team from last season it seems like a play on the over is warranted.  The Chargers should clean up against the division as no one in the AFC West will be prepared to beat them in 2007.  The only thing that scares me is that Norv Turner is a lousy head coach.  Other than that it’s all systems go for 2007 so take the over.
