The San Diego Chargers release WR Seyi Ajirotutu

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 4 September 2011 at 7:05 pm

The Chargers have released 24-year old WR Seyi Ajirotutu.  Ajirotutu played in 10 games (0 starts) as a rookie last year for the Chargers in which he caught 13 passes for 262 yards (20.2 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  I’m a little surprised by this cut as Ajirotutu showed the speed to get down the field for the Chargers.  I think some team will give Ajirotutu a shot in 2011.

The San Diego Chargers release Te Kris Wilson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Saturday 30 July 2011 at 3:06 pm

The Chargers have released 29-year old TE Kris Wilson.  Wilson played in 14 games (7 starts) for the Chargers last year and he caught 6 passes for 73 yards (12.2 avg).  Wilson played in 33 games (7 starts) in his three years with the Chargers and he caught 10 passes for 101 yards (10.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.  Wilson was a decent backup TE but the Chargers should be able to get by without him on the team.

The San Diego Chargers release two defensive players

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Saturday 30 July 2011 at 3:04 pm

The Chargers have released 30-year old cornerback Donald Strickland and 25-year old linebacker Brandon Lang.  Stickland played in 16 games for the Chargers last year and he had 23 tackles, 1 sack, 2 passes defensed and 1 forced fumble.  Lang played in 10 games as a rookie last year for the Chargers and he had 1 whole tackle.  The Chargers won’t miss these guys at all moving forward.

The San Diego Chargers release WR Craig Davis

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 27 July 2011 at 3:17 pm

The San Diego Chargers have released 25-year old WR Craig Davis.  Davis played in 7 games (1 start) for the Chargers last year and he caught 21 passes for 259 yards (12.3 avg) with 1 TD grab.  He played in 26 games (2 starts) in his first four years with the Chargers and he caught 51 passes for 558 yards (10.9 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  Davis just couldn’t stay healthy with the Chargers and that is the biggest reason why he’s looking for a new job right now.  Some team will give him another chance in 2011.

The San Diego Chargers release LB Antwan Applewhite

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 27 July 2011 at 3:15 pm

The Chargers have released 25-year old linebacker Antwan Applewhite.  Applewhite played in 16 games for the Chargers last year and he had 48 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 3 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 passes defensed.  Applewhite played in 30 games in his two years in San Diego and he had 68 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 3.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles and 2 passes defensed.  I’m a little surprised by this cut as Applewhite played pretty decent for the Chargers last year.

The San Diego Chargers release LB Jyles Tucker

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 27 July 2011 at 2:39 am

The Chargers have released 27-year old linebacker Jyles Tucker.  Tucker played in only 3 games for the Chargers last year and he had 3 tackles and 1 sack.  Tucker played in 29 games in four seasons with the Chargers and he had 56 tackles, 2 tackles for a loss, 10 sacks, forced 2 fumbles, he recovered 2 fumbles and he defensed 1 pass.  Tucker just couldn’t stay healthy with the Chargers so they decided to cut bait with him.  Some team will give him a chance in 2011.

The San Diego Chargers waive Kris Brown

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,General,Leaving Town by admin on Thursday 25 November 2010 at 10:56 pm

The Chargers have waived 33-year old kicker Kris Brown.  Brown played in 3 games for the Chargers this year and he connected of 4 of 5 field goals (80%) and he also has made all 8 of his extra points good for 20 points.  The Chargers didn’t need Brown anymore with Nate Kaeding back in action, but he did do a good job.

The San Diego Chargers sign Pat Watkins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Tuesday 16 November 2010 at 12:45 pm

The Chargers have signed 27-year old safety Pat Watkins.  Watkins played in 13 games last season for the Cowboys in which he had 29 tackles.  In his first four years in the NFL, Watkins has played in 49 games in which he has 124 tackles, 10 passes defensed, 2 forced fumbles and 4 interceptions.  The Chargers waived 29-year old WR Gary Banks to make room on the roster for Watkins.  Banks played in 2 games for the Chargers this year and he caught 1 pass for 2 yards.

The San Diego Chargers release Richard Goodman

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Sunday 7 November 2010 at 9:36 am

Someone had to go to add WR Kelley Washington and that guy is 23-year old WR Richard Goodman.  Goodman played in 3 games for the Chargers this year and he had 6 tackles while also catching 1 pass for 25 yards.  Goodman will likely hook on with another team as he helps out on special teams as well as offense.

The San Diego Chargers waive Shawne Merriman

Blogged under Bloglockers,Front Page,Leaving Town by admin on Wednesday 3 November 2010 at 6:05 pm

The Chargers have waived 26-year old outside linebacker Shawne Merriman.  Merriman played in 3 games for the Chargers this year and he made 6 tackles.  Merriman played in 60 games in his six years with the Chargers and he had 232 tackles, 16 passes defensed, 43.5 sacks, 8 forced fumbles and 1 interception.  Merriman was quickly claimed by the Buffalo Bills so he will have a chance to show the Chargers that they made a mistake.
