San Diego Chargers 42, Tennessee Titans 17

The Chargers kicked the Titans’ butts all over the field last night as they wrapped up a first round bye in the playoffs.  Philip Rivers was excellent as usual last night completing 21 of 27 passes for 264 yards with 2 TD passes and 0 INTs.  Mike Tolbert was the leading rusher for the Chargers last night with 60 yards on 11 carries (5.5 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 11 yards last night.  LaDainian Tomlinson also had a decent game with 59 yards rushing on 16 carries (3.7 ypc) with 2 TD runs and he also caught 2 passes for 4 yards.  Darren Sproles pitched in with 5 carries for 38 yards (7.6 ypc) with 2 TDs and he also caught 2 passes for 23 yards (11.5 avg) with another TD.  Antonio Gates led the way in the passing game for the Chargers with 3 catches for 74 yards (24.7 avg) with a TD.  Vincent Jackson also had a decent game with 5 catches for 70 yards (14.0 avg).  The Chargers finished up with 425 total yards on offense last night (166 rushing, 259 passing) as they held onto the ball for 39:07.

The defense was outstanding against the pass but they had some issues defending Chris Johnson and Vince Young when he escaped the pocket.  CB Steve Gregory led the way for the Chargers in this game with 6 tackles.  Linebacker Stephen Cooper had another solid game with 5 tackles and a fumble recovery.  Safety Eric Weddle also made a positive impact in this game with 4 tackles, 1 tackle for a loss, 2 passes defensed and a interception.  The Titans finished up with 270 total yards on offense (182 rushing, 88 passing) in this game.  The Chargers will get a bye in the first round of the playoffs as they improved to 12-3 on the year.
