The over/under for wins for the San Diego Chargers in 2008 is 10.5

It’s hard to me to even consider the over here with Philip Rivers, LaDainian Tomlinson and Antonio Gates all banged up.  The Chargers can’t afford to lose any of those three guys if they want to be a playoff team.  That’s not to mention Shawne Merriman trying to play with a very bad wheel.  The Chargers are certainly talented enough to win 11 or more games in 2008 but I’m not betting on it.

The San Diego Chargers lose RB Marcus Thomas on waivers to the Lions

The Chargers have lost rookie RB Marcus Thomas on waivers to the Lions.  The Chargers had to feel that this would happen as they should have found a way to keep Thomas on the team.  Thomas carried the ball 32 times for 121 yards (3.8 ypc) this preseason for the Chargers.  He also caught 5 passes for 38 yards (7.6 avg) in the preseason.  This might be a move that haunts the Chargers down the road as Thomas appears to be a talented guy.

The San Diego Chargers place TE Scott Chandler on I.R.

The Chargers have placed backup tight end Scott Chandler on the Injured Reserve List with a serious toe injury.  Chandler played in all 4 preseason games for the Chargers this year and he caught 5 passes for 37 yards (7.4 avg).  The Chargers were planning on giving Chandler a lot more playing time than last year when he only played in 1 game and didn’t catch a pass.  This injury will really hinder Chandler’s development as an NFL player.
