The San Diego Chargers re-sign RB Michael Turner

The Chargers have signed Turner to a 1-year contract worth $2.3 million bucks.  Turner played in 13 games last season for the Chargers and he carried the football 80 times for 502 yards (6.3 ypc) with 2 TD runs.  Turner also caught 3 passes for 47 yards (15.7 avg).  With LaDainian Tomlinson getting the bulk of the work running the football, the Chargers decided to let Turner return kickoffs and he did a great job of that.  He returned 36 kickoffs for 954 yards (26.5 avg).  The Chargers will likely use Turner as trade bait at the NFL Draft on Saturday afternoon.

The San Diego Chargers are on the clock…………..

I have conducted a complete 7 round draft for every team in the NFL.  If you want to see what I have projected for any other team in the NFL, click on the team name in the right hand margin and go to the team’s Draft Report page if you don’t see the article on the front page of the site.  This was a lot of work so I hope you enjoy it.

The Chargers are all A.J. Smith’s team right now and that will show in this year’s draft.  Here’s who I think the Chargers will wind up with by the end of the month:

1. (30)  Dwyane Jarrett, WR, USC

2. (62)  Samson Satele, C, Hawaii

3. (93)  Daniel Bazunin, DE, Central Michigan

3. (96)  Aaron Rouse, S, Virginia Tech

4. (129)  Andy Alleman, OG, Akron

5. (167)  Syvelle Newton, WR, South Carolina

5. (172)  Chris Denman, OT, Fresno State

7. (240)  Cameron Stephenson, OG, Rutgers

The Chargers want to continue to get younger on the offensive line and they can do that if these players are available.  But the star of the show will be Dwyane Jarrett if he slides down to the Chargers pick….they need a WR really, really bad!
