San Diego Chargers vs. Denver Broncos

This is the battle for first place in the AFC West as both of these teams sit at 7-2 on the season.  Both of them have gotten to 7-2 in very different ways.  The Chargers are an explosive offensive team, while the Broncos are a good defensive football team.

The Chargers will not change on offense for anyone.  They will come out running the ball with LaDainian Tomlinson (932 yards rushing, 16 TDs) at the Broncos tough run defense that has allowed only 86.2 yards rushing per game and 3.6 yards per rush.  Philip Rivers (2,085 yards passing) should have success against the Broncos pass defense that has allowed 955 yards passing the last 3 games.  Rivers better be careful on Champ Bailey’s side of the field as he already has 5 interceptions.

The Broncos will come out running the football to try to control the clock and keep the Chargers offense on the sideline.  The Broncos could have some success, because the Chargers allow 4.1 yards per carry this season.  The Chargers defense has been very vulnerable to the pass, so at some point Jake Plummer will throw the ball deep to Javon Walker (41 rec, 731 yards).

The Chargers have not played well in Denver in the past, but this should be a great football game.  The QB that plays better Sunday Night will be the winning QB.
