The over/under for Chargers wins is 8 1/2.  The Chargers are 24-1 to win the Super Bowl and 12-1 to win the AFC.

I suggest you put some cash on the under.  Philip Rivers is going to have a rough time this year.

The Chargers looked pretty good on Saturday night.  The defense continues to look rock solid.  Philip Rivers fumbled three times, including once in the end zone that the Seahawks recovered for a TD.  Rivers did ok passing completing 6 of 11 passes (54.5%) for 89 yards.  AJ Feeley completed 4 of 4 passes for 54 yards and a TD.  Charlie Whitehurst completed 3 of 7 passes for 19 yards and a pick-off.

Ray Perkins carried the ball 20 times for 83 yards (4.2 ypc) and a TD.  Perkins also caught 3 passes for 17 yards as he is making a strong push to make the roster.  Michael Turner continued his impressive pre-season carrying the ball 8 times for 53 yards (6.6 ypc) and 2 TDs.  Turner also caught a pass for 24 yards.

The Seahawks only had the ball for 23:35 of the game.  The Seahawks rushed for 96 yards, averaging 4.2 yards per carry.  The Chargers only allowed Seattle to complete 45.2% of their passes for 101 net yards.

Chargers awesome on defense, so-so on offense so far

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Wednesday 23 August 2006 at 3:19 pm

The Chargers offense needs to catch-up to the effectiveness of the defense.  The Chargers are averaging 108.0 yards per game rushing and 4.2 yards per carry.  The Chargers are averaging 210.5 yards thru the air, and are completing 60.5% of their passes so far.  The Chargers are getting good yardage, but have only scored 20 points in 2 games.

The defense has been awesome.  The Chargers front seven is locking teams down that try to run on them.  The Chargers are only allowing 71.0 yards per game on the ground, and are only allowing 3.2 yards per carry.  The pass defense is only giving up 132.5 yards, even though the other team in connecting on 60.0% of their passes.

Chargers look pathetic against the Bears

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page by ravenhater on Saturday 19 August 2006 at 12:35 am

The Chargers only managed 3 points on offense Friday night.  Philip Rivers completed 9 of 14 passes for 75 yards and an interception that was returned 64 yards for a TD by Brian Urlacher.  Charlie Whitehurst didn’t do much better completing 11 of 19 passes for 97 yards and a interception.  The lone bright spots for the Chargers were their running backs and their defense.  Michael Turner carried the ball 6 times for 55 yards.  Ray Perkins (a second year player from SE Louisiana) rushed 12 times for 40 yards and caught 4 passes for 28 yards.

The defense held the Bears offense to 189 total yards.  The special teams even had a horrid play giving up a 100 yard kick-off return to Rashied Davis.

The Chargers will have a lot to learn from this game film.
